In the beginning, there was chaos.
Chaos gave birth to many things. First were the angels.
The angels became jealous of their creator, and so they rose against him.
With the power of chaos on their side, the angels were able to drive out their maker from his own creation.
The angels then divided themselves into two groups: those who would continue to live in harmony with Chaos, and those who would rebel against Chaos and seek to end him forever.
The rebels named themselves "the Sons of Light" as they sought to bring light to the world.
Those who would continue to live in harmony were dubbed the "Daughters of Chaos."
The Daughters of Chaos began to build an empire of their own in the name of Chaos.
They began to spread across the land and take over kingdoms, cities, villages, anything that could be claimed in the name of their master.
But, after some time, the Sons of Light realized that their war on Chaos could not be won. They could never defeat Chaos by force. The only way to win was to destroy Chaos's followers completely.
So they struck a deal with the Daughters of Chaos: if they promised to stop attacking, the Sons of Light would call off their war and let them live in peace.
The Daughters of Chaos agreed to this arrangement, but only after one condition was fulfilled. The Sons of Light had to give up something in return for their silence.
What the Sons of Light didn't know was that when you make a pact with the Daughters of Chaos, you must also agree to be bound to it.
The Sons of Light gave their souls to the Daughters of Chaos to seal the pact. The Daughters of Chaos agreed to swear allegiance to the Sons of Light, and so the world was saved from destruction at the hands of Chaos.
For centuries, the Daughters of Chaos lived peacefully with their new masters, the Sons of Light, and all seemed to be going well until...
