I guess I shouldn't expect much then. The only thing that interests me is Knuckles. I still like Sonic as he is now, though. Still love that game.

yeah it's pretty cool if you ignore the terrible physics and design of the levels (and the fact that the plot is boring and predictable)
also the fact that the enemies are the same kind of generic dudes that they've been since the first game doesn't really make things interesting, either

they're actually really fun imo and they look awesome imo
the thing that bugs me most about that game is how the gameplay is so slow and boring compared to more modern platformers
it's not like i'm a fan of games with fast-paced platforming or anything but sonic should be faster than this imo

It's not really that slow for me. Also I agree about the game's enemies being dull. You can kill them pretty easily.

Also, I hate when you need to do a trick to get through some areas. Some parts just feel so unfair if you don't know how to do something like that.

yeah those parts are frustrating but if they were easier the game would be too easy
i guess my biggest issue is just that it's a very basic platformer that doesn't offer anything new to the genre (in fact it's mostly outdated compared to most other games in that genre)
and even though it has a lot of content it still feels like it could use more levels and more things to collect (like the chaos emeralds and super sonic)

I agree with the lack of things to do besides collecting coins and rings. Also the levels aren't as cool as they used to be.

I don't think Sonic will ever reach it's former glory... at least not anytime soon. The only thing that interests me now are the games on handheld systems.

yeah i mean the classic series was pretty great but i have mixed feelings about the newer stuff
i really enjoyed the first couple of games but after that the gameplay started feeling way too slow and boring for my tastes

the last good sonic game was actually from the PS2 era
even though it was basically an HD remake of the original game it's still the best one in my opinion because it wasn't held back by the limitations of older hardware
also the fact that it actually had a story made things better as well

The only thing I hated about the Gamecube port was the controls being flipped horizontally. I'm not sure if it's that way on the Dreamcast version or not.
