Why do people say they hate themselves for being straight?
I see them saying this a lot but I don't understand. Why would you hate yourself for liking someone of the opposite gender?

"straight" and "gay" are just labels.
If you think about it, you're not really hating yourself if you label your own self as something, especially since it is more than likely going to be wrong (since there are many different types of people in the world, who know what they do, like and dislike?).
But the thing is, these labels are just too common, and most people don't understand how big the spectrum is, so when they see a person saying "I'm straight", they assume it's the same as what they define as "straight".
So basically, if someone hates themself for being straight, they probably just haven't understood the idea behind these labels yet, or their friends make fun of them for it, but they'll stop hating themselves once they grow up and realize that it doesn't matter, or that it's okay.

@1Pure1, I'm straight but I've seen some people say they hate themselves for being straight. They think they're gay because they like someone of the opposite gender so they hate themselves for it.
