...who was on his way to buy himself a new car but, as soon as he got in the driver's seat, he noticed a strange noise. He continued driving anyway because, well, the car did seem fine. After a few miles he pulled over and found that the car was just making random noises and not really going anywhere.
The young man walked home (after having already spent all the money for the car) and told his parents what happened. His father, being the old guy that he is, suggested that the young man should probably find another way to get around town instead of walking everywhere. "What about a bike?", his father asked.
The young man said, "Nah, I don't like riding bikes."
His mother then said, "Well what do you like then?"
He replied, "I like video games."
After a few minutes of thinking, his mother decided that it would be a good idea for her son to find himself a job so that he could pay for his new video game system. She walked him down to the local mall where there were many stores, all of which had an opportunity for employment.
One of these stores was a toy store, and the manager of that store happened to be walking past when he saw the young man. He asked the young man if he would be interested in working at the toy store, and he told him that he would be more than happy to.
The young man then proceeded to work at this toy store for three years while paying off his debt from buying his video game console. After he finally paid back all the money that he borrowed, he saved up enough money to buy a car. This time, however, the car's engine actually worked.
The young man went to his parents' house one day and proudly showed them the new car. His father said, "Looks great!" and his mother gave him a warm embrace. The young man then noticed his father walking around with a strange look on his face. "What is it, dad?", he asked.
His father replied, "I'm just wondering how you'll ever get anywhere now that your car has broken down again."
The young man gave a puzzled look as his father continued to walk away.
