The problem is that it takes too much work for me to finish. It's just way too complicated.
I mean, I'm going through all sorts of things...
Like making the character move, making animations (which I haven't done yet), and all this other crap which will make it harder than any game I've ever made before.
Also, if you want to see how far along I am, you can check out my profile picture.
That's how far along it is.
I'd also like some opinions on what I should use as an engine?
It'll be hard, because the last time I tried using an engine was with roblox studio (the engine that comes with roblox).
That was when I tried to make a 1D game.
So yeah, the problem is that I suck at everything.

idk i hate roblox studio, but its really fast to code in.
its great for testing, but i think you should use something else for your real game.

Yeah, I already figured that much.
I don't even use roblox studio anymore. I've been using notepad++.
The thing is, I have no idea what to use.
I've looked through quite a few engines, and none of them seemed to satisfy me.
I'm trying to make a game based off of the way games are done in the ps1 era.

Also, I don't plan on releasing it anytime soon.
I just need some opinions on what engine to use so I don't waste my time.

That's what I thought, which is why I haven't found anything yet.

I don't think that would work...
My game wouldn't look much like a console game, although the graphics will be very similar.

So I can't make my game look like it's in 2.5d?
Because that's what I want.

I can't figure out how to use it, and it seems complicated, so I don't wanna go through the trouble of trying to learn how to use it...
