So I'm taking Algebra 1 and my teacher just gave me a quiz.
Here's the question:
2x + 5y = -1
and
-2x - 4y = -6
Solve both equations for x.
How would I do this?

I don't know how to solve that but it looks like you have to get rid of y and then isolate x in one equation

Wait, I got it. Get rid of y by multiplying everything by -1/4 and add them together.
