I have this friend I've known since 7th grade. She is nice to me, and she does things for me. But she also hates my guts and always puts me down. It's been like this since we met. It really bugs me that she acts nice when everyone else is around, then she goes and insults me behind their backs.

Be her friend in public, but be mean to her in private.
Be mean enough where she will take note of it, but not so mean as to get you expelled or fired from your job.
