Why would he leave so many clues to himself in the form of the username "1x1x1x1" if he wanted to remain secret? And why does he use such obvious methods for his place exploits, like spawning the baseplate and teleporting people?

Maybe he's trying to get attention. But he might not be the one that is doing it.

I thought about that too. There are two possibilities:
A: He is just an idiot who really wants to ruin places.
B: He isn't actually exploiting places, but has some other scheme.
