well because it's impossible not to make it. if i say "i won't lose weight" then i'm making the same resolution as everyone else also, it's possible to lose weight but not have the determination to lose weight btw i am already skinny

"also, it's possible to lose weight but not have the determination to lose weight" people don't just decide they want to lose weight for no reason they either hate themselves and their appearance or they are being pressured by someone to lose weight either way it is not healthy

"people don't just decide they want to lose weight for no reason" yes, people do it for no reason some people are just afraid that they're fat because of how our society views overweight people other people may be worried about health issues in the future so they decide to get fit before it's too late btw my resolution was "stop procrastinating", which i did stop but i still procrastinate sometimes

"yes, people do it for no reason" i mean like why would you decide you wanted to lose weight if you don't have a problem with it? you don't even need to try to lose weight unless you actually have a problem with how you look

"i mean like why would you decide you wanted to lose weight if you don't have a problem with it?" i didn't have a problem with losing weight. i had a problem with procrastination though you don't even need to try to lose weight unless you actually have a problem with how you look i disagree with this statement people lose weight for reasons other than appearance as well e.g. health reasons

"i disagree with this statement people lose weight for reasons other than appearance as well e.g. health reasons" yeah, but if they aren't concerned about their looks then i doubt they will be concerned enough to actually do anything about it if they are doing it for health reasons then yeah it's better than doing nothing, but i still think the resolution is not healthy

yeah, but if they aren't concerned about their looks then i doubt they will be concerned enough to actually do anything about it there are different levels of concern e.g. some people are really concerned about their looks and they just want to lose weight no matter what some people are just slightly worried about their looks and they want to lose weight to get rid of that worry if they are doing it for health reasons then yeah it's better than doing nothing, but i still think the resolution is not healthy but there are also different levels of "health" you can go to extreme lengths to improve your health (e.g. cutting off fat) or you can have a relatively healthy lifestyle (e.g. eating moderately)

"yeah but if the person isn't that concerned with losing weight then they probably won't go all out to do so" well, maybe they are trying to lose weight because they think it will help them in other ways than just appearance (e.g. more confidence) "so basically it's pretty much like me who stopped procrastinating in order to be more productive which is fine if you have a problem with being lazy or something, but i'm not lazy at all" i wouldn't say it's bad for anyone to want to improve their lifestyle

"well, maybe they are trying to lose weight because they think it will help them in other ways than just appearance (e.g. more confidence)" but why would they do it if they don't care about losing weight and just want more confidence? there are other ways to get confident that don't involve losing weight lol "i wouldn't say it's bad for anyone to want to improve their lifestyle" yeah i wasn't saying that either it's fine, as long as you are doing it for the right reasons i just hate seeing people do things for the wrong reasons like when i was in high school i had a classmate who was always obsessed with her looks and she would be really annoying and try to get everyone to be jealous of her then one time she got some plastic surgery done on her nose or something and then afterwards she suddenly became anorexic and started dieting constantly and stuff it was so cringey and i hated her even more after that
