you're either a troll or you have no clue what the term 'noob' actually means
"noob" is the shortened version of "newbie", meaning a new player
it's not meant as an insult
"n00b" is a newer variation of that and is used as an insult

Nub is an insult.
If someone calls me a nub then i will get mad and call them a n00b back.

Yeah, but they don't mean anything really. People who say things like "Your a noob." Are the same people who would be called noobs if they were being called noobs.

well that's not entirely true
if you take a quick glance at google trends
you'll see that "n00b" has been gaining in popularity since 2007
but "nub" hasn't had a rise in searches since 2008 or so
it's basically died out completely now
and I'm pretty sure you'll find more people using it as a derogatory term than as a friendly one
also, calling someone a "n00b" is still technically insulting
because it's short for "newbie"
which is insulting in itself if used as an insult
just look at this thread

they certainly do
people are just getting more creative with their insults
they're not changing much
they're only changing the way people use these words to fit what they want to say
but at the end of the day it's still the same thing
