It's not like they'll give you any proof of it, so what are you going to do? You can't go to hell if there isn't a hell. It just doesn't exist.

It's a metaphorical expression. They don't mean there is an actual place called hell.

they mean literal hell. and they mean literal god. and they mean literal everything
and they mean literally all these things are real
you're going to hell = you're going to a place called hell
you'll be tortured for eternity = you'll be tortured for a long time (eternity being a really long time)
god exists = god really exists
the bible is true = the bible is true
and then that guy saying you're going to hell also says his religion will save you if you convert to that religion
which makes no sense whatsoever

And who is this guy?
They're just trying to scare you. Hell is supposed to be like a scary place.
But if you believe in it, then yeah, I guess it is real.
But hell is actually the same thing as heaven. Both are places where people go and be with God. But since everyone is sinners and not worthy to be in God's presence, we send them to hell, which is actually just an earth-like planet where you can do whatever you want. The only catch is that you don't have free will to decide whether or not you want to go to heaven or to hell.
Also, when someone says, "You're going to hell," they really mean, "You are worthy to be punished by God for what you've done wrong." They're just telling you to repent.
