I was trying to think about how people can still be alive at the end of The Last Guardian, and I came up with this:
How would they be able to keep an injured (and presumably unconscious) dog on a boat for 40 days without it getting wet?
The dog would have drowned.

@TheJay
Unless there is some sort of waterproof material that prevents water from going through and into the boat (which I highly doubt), then the dog would most likely drown in its own juices.

They don't show you. They didn't want to spoil it.

"they didn't want to spoil it"
If I were you, I'd avoid The Last Guardian if I were you. It's one of those games where you're better off not knowing any story details, since the game isn't very good and you'll probably be disappointed by it. It's very slow-paced (most of the game involves walking around or sitting down while waiting for a cutscene). It's also pretty short, with only about 10 hours of gameplay, which is incredibly short for a game that costs $60. And on top of all that, the gameplay is pretty bad too. The controls feel very unresponsive and clunky, and it's very easy to get stuck in an area due to the controls not responding well enough. I have seen many videos of people getting stuck in The Last Guardian. As I said, the game isn't very good, so I wouldn't recommend buying it.
