I have an old, broken, used laptop and I don't know what to do with it.

take out the screen and put in a new one (if it's not soldered on)
or replace the entire top panel for a newer version that you can buy online

There isn't anything inside the laptop I can take out.
It's just the whole laptop, broken.

ok then
you'll need to find a replacement top case
and probably motherboard too
it'll cost a lot
so unless it has sentimental value, i'd recommend getting a cheap new one
unless you're into customizing hardware or something

the lowest i found is $249
that's a pretty good deal, but it's gonna cost you more to repair it
if you want to keep it, you might as well just fix it up and keep it for future use
