I'm doing an essay and there is this thing about how you need to take a certain number and make it the area of a triangle. How do you figure out the area of a triangle? Can someone please explain?

1/2*b*h
b is one side (base)
h is height.

I understand that much, but how would I get the area of a triangle if all I have is the length of the base?

If you mean by how does a triangle have any area when you only know the base, well it doesn't.

I don't see why you would need to know the area of a triangle anyway...

Well it has something to do with the formula for volume.

And what does that have to do with the area of a triangle?
