I know what you mean about the numbers not adding up.
what i meant was this:
every solar system has a planet
every planet has a chance for another planet that could potentially sustain life.
therefore, there's an infinite chance that another planet can support life.
just imagine that there's billions of these parallel realities.
you'd go crazy if you were able to travel between them all
