1. find a minecraft server download from the internet (I found one for free from a friend)
2. copy and paste the zip file into a folder
3. go into command prompt and navigate to where you put the zip file in
4. unzip it by typing "unzip [filename].zip"
5. rename the new file called "minecraft_server.1.12.2.jar"
6. double click it to launch it, make sure you open up another window with a browser, because if you don't then it will auto open up a browser to play.
7. (optional) enable the cheat code "enable-cheats true" in the config file
8. (optional) set the level seed (default is random) so that the map will be the same every time. The seed I use for my world is "123456789" which makes the map look like this: http://www.roblox.com/games/482385829/skybox-maps

Or you could just install Forge on your local computer.

I just did this to make my own minecraft server so I could play on my own instead of having to play on other people's servers.

It's not very hard, and it doesn't take very long to download Forge.
