"Is there something you wanted to say to me?"
"What happened to my cat?"
"He was bitten by another cat, so we had to put him down."
"Oh"
"Are you okay?"
"No, I'm not happy, but I understand."
"You understand?"
"I know that he wouldn't come back to life, so it is not worth getting mad about."
"Thank you for understanding, sweetheart."
"Dad, what happened to the other cat?"
"The other cat is at a vet's clinic, and will probably be euthanized."
"Oh."
"I'm sorry to have brought this up, dad."
"It's okay, honey. Now let's eat our dinner while it's still hot."
