I have never taken lessons but I do know how to read music. I've been playing by ear for a while now, and I'm pretty good at it.
So my dad says "why don't you take lessons"
and I said "no way!"
then we stopped talking about it
so maybe you guys could give me some advice on how to make this work

Well, I guess I'm not all that good then. I mean, I play by ear so I just play songs out of my head until I get sick of it or get better at it.
