It's been out for over a year now. They said they wouldn't release a new one until next summer. It's only been out for 6 months. And besides, the DSi is just as good as the 3DS. They're pretty much the same except for a few new features.

Yes it has. They announced the DSi in 2008 or something. They weren't going to release it for another year because it was so far away from the original DS, so they waited for another year.

Not really. It had only been released for about 8 months when the DSi came out. And the 3DS came out around last summer.
I think I remember that they didn't say that they wouldn't be releasing the next DS for a while, but I'm not sure on that. So you're probably right there.
