So there's this kid, he's a nerd but not that fat. He has a lot of friends (not including me) and he's cool. He doesn't get picked on at all and everyone thinks he's awesome.
Well, one day he decided to pull a prank on someone who isn't really his friend. They were in the hall and this other guy walked by and they decided to trick him into walking off the edge of the stairs. He fell down the stairs, got seriously hurt, was in the hospital for a week, and is still recovering today.
It wasn't his fault either because the other guy was just walking by so it wasn't like he wanted him to fall or anything. But I guess the other guy might have known about the prank and was trying to save himself...
All these kids are talking about how the kid is horrible for doing that to someone and blah blah blah. He's getting made fun of so much. No one likes him anymore.
I'm not trying to say it was okay what he did. But I'm just saying, if I were in that situation I would be treated the same way. People would talk about me behind my back and call me names.

Not really but I'm pretty sure they'll pick on me if they know it was me.

So, if your friend accidentally kills somebody, you get hated forever? Sounds reasonable.

"Sounds reasonable"
It's not a matter of whether or not it was reasonable. It's just the way people think.

The point is, what if he thought the guy wanted to be killed? What if the guy was threatening him and he felt like he had no choice? The point is, the guy made a mistake and nobody deserves to be hated for making a mistake.

But, yeah, this thread is pretty pointless because you already knew what people would do in that situation and how they would react.

Exactly.
But the other guy wasn't really threatening him... He was just walking by

I know. I'm just trying to see opinions and stuff.

Well, maybe it was a prank that went too far, but, still. It's not his fault he got hurt. You can't blame someone for something they didn't intend to happen.
