I'm trying to work out the kinetic energy for a rocket that's accelerating and also moving forward.
I tried to get it with this formula:
KE = (1/2) * m * (v^2 + v^2)
but I know that the KE should be equal to m*v^2.
Anyone know where I'm going wrong? Or is there even an equation for this?

The KE should be equal to (m*v^2 + m*v^2) but I don't know how to write it like that in LaTex.
