What if we were all just a bunch of ants.

You know, tiny little insects walking around on this giant earth. Then again, that would mean people have been running around with their pants off for thousands of years.

I don't see how it's relevant to pants...

Maybe I should rephrase. Instead of "pants" say "clothing"

Oh. Well, most ants live in colonies that are led by queens and the workers usually go out and find food while other ones take care of the nest. That would explain why people are so stupid, it'd be like us trying to understand a different language, because ants use something called "Pheromones", which basically are chemical signals that are used for communication between species, such as finding food, or mating.

Actually, what if we were all just a bunch of mice? Tiny little rodents scurrying across a giant world, where we would be prey to all sorts of animals.

It would suck, but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't survive long enough to grow up anyways.

There's no reason why we would not survive long enough. We're stronger than ants, and we can use tools, so why wouldn't we?

We still don't have the brainpower to build a civilization or society, there isn't any evidence in the fossil record of such an advanced civilization, if anything, we would just die off before we get past the hunter-gatherer stage, which is when most civilizations begin to emerge.

Hunter-gatherer societies are very primitive. What if we had more intelligence than ants, but still not as much as humans?

That's what I'm saying. Ants are only slightly above grasshoppers in terms of intelligence. A hunter-gatherer society isn't that bad actually, if you've ever played Age of Empires 2 then you would know that the Aztecs were basically hunter-gatherers. However, since they couldn't read or write, they were constantly being killed by other nations with more advanced weaponry and technology.

But, how would it be possible for us to evolve into humans? If we didn't have the brains to make a civilization, how would we come across something that could cause us to mutate into humans?

We'd die off before that happened. It doesn't matter how intelligent we are, if we don't have the capacity to build up a civilization, we would never come close to evolving into humans.

Oh. Well, there is another thought. What if we were just a bunch of mice, but had no predators?

Then we would probably still be here, I'm pretty sure mice can survive in most environments. But that doesn't mean that we wouldn't still be prey to some animal or another.

Well, let's go with this theory: what if we were just a bunch of dogs? The only reason why you guys say we would die off is because we don't have enough intelligence to do anything, but what if we had the same intelligence as ants?

That doesn't really explain how we would evolve into humans.

Maybe it was not meant for us to evolve into humans.

Yes it was. Evolution has proven itself time and again.

Evolution has nothing to do with this. Think about it like this: You are on an island, and you find a bunch of mice. Then, out of nowhere, the island vanishes.

Evolution does have something to do with it. The island wouldn't just vanish. It would be torn apart by a meteor or some other such thing.

No, the island is still there. I'm saying that all the animals disappear, except for the mice.

So...? Even if the island vanished, we can still survive without being completely wiped out. Our population would grow rapidly until the entire island is filled with mice, and we'd be forced to build civilization since we can't use the forest to supply us with food anymore.

Well, just because we didn't have the brainpower to create a civilization doesn't mean that we couldn't evolve. We've seen many species evolve despite not having the brainpower to evolve into humans.

That doesn't explain how we would mutate into humans, though.

We don't need to mutate into humans. Evolution is about adapting to your environment, not evolving into another species.
