It's only 100 billion light years across.
And the observable universe, which is all we can see due to the finite speed of light, is less than 45 billion light years across.
So if you think it's big, go find something bigger.

I mean, I didn't do the maths, but this is a rough estimation based on the size of the cosmic microwave background radiation.

You don't need to be able to see stuff to know how big it is.

then what was your purpose for making this thread?
and also what does "the observable universe" even mean?

It's just a fun fact about our universe. I didn't really make a specific purpose to it. It's just for people who like random facts.
The observable universe is the part of the universe that we can see due to the finite speed of light and our position in the universe.

I feel like you're not even interested in astronomy or anything like that
and also saying that the universe is only "100 billion light years across" makes no sense, because there would be so many more galaxies and other stuff out there

I'm not. I'm not really into astronomy, but I love science, which is why I find this interesting. And yeah, that's why the observable universe is smaller than the entire universe. Because our telescopes aren't powerful enough to see things that are far away, therefore they don't exist within our observable universe.

I'm not trying to impress anyone. Like I said before, it's just a random fun fact. And if you'd read what I actually said on the original post, instead of rushing down to the comment section, you might have learned something.

yeah sure i bet you say that to everyone who makes a thread like this
you didn't even make your own thread about this, so i'm pretty sure that you didn't put effort into this

I've been to school for 6 years and I know stuff about astronomy. Why do you think I posted this? Because I thought it was interesting and I wanted to share my knowledge with others. So what if I didn't make it? It doesn't mean I put no effort into it.

"I've been to school for 6 years and I know stuff about astronomy."
you don't need to be in school for 6 years to know something about astronomy
and also it's not even hard to find stuff about astronomy on google
the internet is basically your best friend when it comes to these kind of things

yeah sure, just like how you learned stuff about the universe in your school
also i don't see why you would have to say that you've been in school for 6 years
the only thing people are interested in is your age

It doesn't matter. It's irrelevant and this thread isn't even going to be relevant after a couple of minutes. Just stop replying if you're going to keep saying negative things.

I'm not leaving. I'll post whenever I feel like it.
And yes, the thread is no longer relevant. This is the internet, which means things change every second. You really don't need to know what the purpose of this was.

"the thread is no longer relevant"
well you sure are trying hard to hide that fact
your thread is also probably dead by now because nobody cares about astronomy
and if they do care about astronomy, then there would be better threads that would interest them

Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm not hiding anything. It's because people like you keep replying to me with negative comments that I decide to post back and defend myself. So I am still posting on this thread, but this thread isn't relevant anymore.

And no, it doesn't bother me. You just don't need to know that.
