What the heck is a "noob"?

I never understood that term. It's been used in an annoying way for a while, but I never figured out what it was supposed to mean. Is it some kind of ROBLOX-specific term? A lot of people who aren't on ROBLOX seem to use it.

No. I know what it means, but I don't understand how the word itself is meant to apply. For example, when did it become a bad thing to be new?
