If you don't know how to use the internet, you're either a child or an idiot.
This whole thing is just stupid.

Not to mention that we now have a 13+ age restriction for an online game about virtual lego bricks

And there's no parental controls anymore as far as I can tell.
So I guess now there's really no way to stop kids from joining ROBLOX without parental permission.

Yes there are, they just aren't very good because most children can use computers so you probably won't be able to stop them. But the site does get better with more members.

Well, even though the site gets better with more members, I wouldn't want that many kids on the site, especially since ROBLOX isn't exactly family friendly.
And I mean, I'm sure you'd see a lot more inappropriate content if we were to have loads of little kids on the site

The site does have adult content and I think it should have an age restriction to keep all those things off of the site. Maybe it should have a system like twitter where you're able to block people.

Well, that would require a lot of moderation, which is why I say that the site would need some sort of parental control. Maybe even a system where only the parents can remove the restriction if they feel that their child is mature enough to play.

I think roblox could probably do what steam does with games. You just have to check the box that allows children under 13 to play it

Yeah, but I don't know how much effect that would really have, since it's not like the parents will be monitoring the account frequently. It would have to be something more serious. Like having parental controls that only allow access to certain areas of ROBLOX.

That would make things way harder for developers. They would need to make multiple versions of the game. There are also going to be a lot of problems with people lying about their age.

And that might not be a bad thing for the site. There are a ton of good games by children so having them on the front page would be nice

I mean, it could be done if ROBLOX has parental control installed. And maybe even have an option where they can add games to a whitelist. And we'd need to make sure that the account isn't able to access the account settings without parental permission.
As far as I know there's no easy way to restrict the user from accessing any parts of ROBLOX.

In fact, if we were to go through this trouble, you could even do things like restrict accounts under 13 from chatting with anyone over 18 or 21. We could even restrict accounts under a certain age from playing certain types of games. We could also create an age restriction system that's similar to the "18+" and "Mature" ratings that movies have.

There aren't really any disadvantages for kids playing roblox but there are many disadvantages for developers. They would need to make two versions of their game

The only real disadvantage is the fact that ROBLOX would have less users. But as long as the site doesn't rely on having a lot of users, then this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Well you still have to deal with the fact that you're going to have to make two versions of the game. Maybe they could do it like steam where the developers can opt out of it

Yeah, what you said makes sense too. But if we were to restrict accounts under 13 from chatting with anyone over 21 or 18, then that might reduce some of the inappropriateness.
