A long time ago, in a small town in Mexico, there lived a man named Juan. He had just finished building his house and was looking around to see if he should make any changes when he heard a loud crash. He ran outside and saw his roof missing, but found that a piece of wood was propped up against the wall on one side. He climbed up and looked over the edge to see if anyone or anything was responsible for the damage. He looked around for some time, but did not find anything other than his roof. Juan went back inside and began to replace his roof with new wood and nails. However, as soon as he reached the top of the ladder, he fell to the ground, dead.
Many years later, a traveler came across the town and noticed a strange sight. On the roof, there was a piece of wood, nailed into it. The wood was shaped like a man, hanging from the ceiling. The traveler entered the home and asked the family if they knew what happened. They told him the story about Juan and how he died while replacing the roof. They also mentioned that many people had tried to remove the wooden man but none succeeded. The traveler took down the wooden man and replaced it with a picture of Jesus. He then left town and never returned.
The legend states that whoever takes down the wooden man will become extremely wealthy, but only the man who puts it back will have any luck in their life.
