The internet is just a bunch of computers that can talk to each other.
The only thing that makes it "big" is the sheer number of things that the computers can do.

Yes, and a computer's hard drive is also like a database. A hard drive doesn't exist anywhere else in the world except inside a single computer.
That's basically what the internet is.

No, there aren't.
There are a finite number of hard drives out there.
Each one has a finite amount of data.
When someone deletes data on one of these hard drives (or simply stops using it), the data still exists but it can no longer be retrieved without some sort of complex algorithm (which would take a while to run).
The internet is just a big database made up of every computer that is currently connected to it.

You're not really "going to" the internet, you're only accessing it through your browser.
It's like going to McDonald's and ordering a Big Mac.
It's still technically a Big Mac even if you order it in McDonald's.
Same thing with the internet.
