I'm not reading that Game of Thrones book because it's way too long and I've seen the show. My official siggy, that was approved by Mr. Retexture Guy himself.

there is no such thing as a "good" book only books with different degrees of good/bad

I don't really care if it has some flaws; just so long as it's entertaining and interesting to read. My official siggy, that was approved by Mr. Retexture Guy himself.

It depends on what you're interested in. There are tons of options, and you can pick up a lot of different things, including but not limited to fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery, etc. If you want a modern book, try one of Chuck Palahniuk's novels (Fight Club is probably his most popular one, but there are others), or something more classic, like Bram Stoker's Dracula or Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. If you prefer a more fantastical story, try The Lord of the Rings trilogy or Harry Potter, or maybe a bit of Stephen King if you want some creepy supernatural stuff. If you want something that will make you think and ponder philosophical questions for ages, go for the classics: Huckleberry Finn, Gulliver's Travels, Hamlet, Macbeth, Crime and Punishment, To Kill a Mockingbird, Animal Farm, etc. If you really just want a fun, quick, easy read, check out any of Dan Brown's books, or maybe Jodi Picoult if you're into more serious stuff that deals with real world issues.

I would definitely recommend Harry Potter (especially if you've seen the movies), The Hunger Games, and Lord of the Rings if you're new to reading, since those are pretty accessible and they have some awesome fantasy worlds. If you like mystery/thrillers, then Sherlock Holmes is great. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorites and it's pretty short, so you could probably finish it in less than two weeks even if you're busy.

"there is no such thing as a "good" book only books with different degrees of good/bad" There has to be something that separates a good book from a bad book, otherwise how else can you determine what makes a good book? What does it mean that a book is 'good'? A book with no flaws is better than one which has many flaws? "If you want a modern book, try one of Chuck Palahniuk's novels (Fight Club is probably his most popular one, but there are others), or something more classic, like Bram Stoker's Dracula or Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. If you prefer a more fantastical story, try The Lord of the Rings trilogy or Harry Potter, or maybe a bit of Stephen King if you want some creepy supernatural stuff. If you want something that will make you think and ponder philosophical questions for ages, go for the classics: Huckleberry Finn, Gulliver's Travels, Hamlet, Macbeth, Crime and Punishment, To Kill a Mockingbird, Animal Farm, etc." I already have read those. I'm not sure why anyone would recommend The Hunger Games; that was a very overrated book series. It was mediocre at best. Yeah, I was thinking of a book for him to read but I didn't remember those ones. Good picks there too!" I've never heard of those, thanks for the suggestions. My official siggy, that was approved by Mr. Retexture Guy himself.

yeah harry potter is pretty bad imo it's more like a cashcow franchise that got so popular because people liked the movies more than the books

"Yeah, I was thinking of a book for him to read but I didn't remember those ones. Good picks there too!" I've never heard of those, thanks for the suggestions." I have read Pride and Prejudice before; it was okay, but very long and slow-paced. My official siggy, that was approved by Mr. Retexture Guy himself.

Yeah, I think we all know now that Harry Potter is pretty mediocre. But still, those were some of my favorite books when I was younger, and I guess they're still somewhat enjoyable. They're not the greatest books out there, but they're not awful either.

"Harry Potter is pretty bad" I can see why a lot of people would say that; however, it wasn't that great in my opinion. The movie versions were actually better, especially the first one. My official siggy, that was approved by Mr. Retexture Guy himself.

I'm actually a big fan of the Harry Potter movies, even though I wouldn't read the books again if you paid me.

Yeah, I don't like Harry Potter at all. "The movies are much better than the book series." My official siggy, that was approved by Mr. Retexture Guy himself.
