And when I'm with him, I have this urge to start crying.
I just... Idk what to do. He's not really nice or anything, he's just sort of annoying and always being rude to me. I don't know how to get rid of it so that I stop crying whenever I'm around him.

I can't exactly stop him from getting defensive. He always gets defensive no matter what, but it's mainly when it comes to this subject.
