there are some words which have multiple definitions, for example the word "can"

the only way i can think of to do it would be to bring up some weird examples where love couldnt apply and then say "see? doesnt work!" but i dont have any ideas of what i could use as an example

I think you should first look at how it's being used in context before trying to define it. If you do that, you can't be wrong.

Just ask them what the definition is and then say "no, that's not what I thought love was".

I've had a lot of arguments about how love is defined before. The best one was where this girl said she loved her boyfriend because she was happy when he was around and sad when he wasn't.
