"What?"
I've seen this more than once. It makes no sense to me.

I don't really understand it either, but I think they're just saying that since the OP is atheist then he doesn't have a right to say that he hates religion.
I don't get how you can be both though.
It's not like there are two different kinds of religions..

There are many religions in which Atheists and Theists coexist. (I'll leave out the ones in which they can't)

And if you think about it, why wouldn't they? If you are one or the other, that is what you believe; your beliefs cannot be changed by others, only yourself. Therefore, you don't need to hate what others believe in order to stand behind your own belief.

"and if you think about it"
*if i were to think about it
"why wouldnt they?"
Because people are dumb.
You can't have any faith without religion, so if you aren't religious then you're an atheist.
Religion and atheism are opposites, so that's why they hate each other.
If someone said they hated religion but believed in God, they'd be contradicting themselves.
It's like saying "I hate blue" but then using a blue pen to write "I HATE BLUE".

"Religion and atheism are opposites"
Atheism isn't a religion, so I fail to see how that is true.

Atheism is the lack of religion. Atheists have no religion, or rather don't believe in any. It's basically a religion itself by definition.

"Atheism is the lack of religion"
"No"
Lack of belief in something does not constitute it as something else; if one were to say "lack of knowledge", for example, one would simply be referring to someone who doesn't know anything. One cannot use it to describe their own belief system or any other system.

What?
You can't be an atheist unless you don't believe in anything.
Therefore, atheists do not believe in anything.
Therefore, they have a religion of nothing.
A religion is an idea that you believe in, and an atheism is the absence of belief in ideas.

No.
"absence of belief"
No. You are not an atheist until you explicitly state that you are an atheist; your actions speak louder than words, and you will always have some sort of faith, even if you deny it.
