I'm pretty sure that the point of most clubs are to get to know new people and enjoy yourself, but it would be nice if the anime club did have some sort of educational aspect to it too.

That's exactly why they make these clubs. It's so we can get to know our community better, and discuss certain subjects with people who share similar interests.
