I hate it because I'm not Christian and I have to put up with people shaming me for it. I don't like Christmas anyways, I don't like gifts or presents so the holiday is pointless to me.

Yeah, I agree with that part as well. I guess capitalism is bad on so many levels, so why not include holidays.

That's not really fair. It's kind of rude for them to do that, but there are ways to avoid it. You could say "Happy Holidays" or "Happy Hanukkah". If they ask what your religion is or why you're saying that instead of Merry Christmas then you can tell them you don't celebrate any religious holidays.
