I am a huge car enthusiast and when I saw the new cars it was really disappointing.

well, do you know why the old cars were big?
to make them look bigger so people would think they were better than they actually were.
it's like how in movies, the bad guy drives this huge badass car but he gets blown up by a minivan with an old lady in it.

@d3rp
no because cars back then didn't need to be fuel efficient.

"I don't see why you can't have both"
it isn't possible to have both on a single vehicle
either the vehicle is fuel efficient or its big and powerful
there has been some work done to improve the efficiency of large vehicles but the only real way to make a large car fuel efficient is to put a diesel engine on it
which makes it less powerful
so you're stuck with having one or the other

@theclosedcloset
I meant I don't see why we can't have big cars that are fuel efficient.

They are getting better though. My parents just got a new Hyundai sedan (the model is Genesis) which is pretty nice

Hyundai's aren't exactly known for making great cars

Maybe back when they first came out but now they are becoming more well-known as making good vehicles

"The only real way to make a large car fuel efficient is to put a diesel engine on it"
only if you want the car to sound like a tractor, you'd be better off getting a hybrid instead.

diesels are actually quiet these days

although i'm not sure why you would want one
hybrids are much more efficient and you can use them in places where diesels aren't allowed

"diesels are actually quiet these days"
if you mean "they don't sound like tractors anymore" then yeah. but you still have that diesel rattle when you accelerate, which is pretty annoying.

you could always get an older car if you want a big car
there is a big difference between the cars being built today and the ones made a couple decades ago (or even just a decade ago)
back in the day, the cars were heavy and inefficient
but they did have a lot of power
and the new cars are light and fuel efficient
but they don't have any power
if you want both, go with something like this:

oh and
if you're really concerned about power and you want a car, get a truck

"i'm not going for power but just big"
well then your best option would be to either get an old car or get a truck
