We had to bring in our lunch and we had these little tables and chairs. And it was the best day of my life, because I got to bring in a toy dinosaur that I was obsessed with at the time.
I would sit on the table with my feet dangling off the seat (it was only half a foot chair) and I'd hold my dinosaur with one hand, my lunch tray in the other. I don't even remember eating anything, but I still ate whatever I was given without complaint. And it was so much fun to talk about dinosaurs and stuff with my classmates. It's almost like a dream now. And I still have that toy dinosaur, I keep it in my room.
And then one day we stopped getting the half-chair tables, and I don't know why but I was really sad. My mom thought it was just because of the dinosaur, so she tried giving me another dinosaur toy. But it didn't work. The old half-chairs were so much better! They were more comfortable, they made it easier for you to kick your classmates' desks and they also provided some entertainment value by making you look like you were a child.
I'm never going back to kindergarten. Or if I do go back, I'll be sure to take my dinosaur with me.
