Well, I was 8 years old when I found out that my parents had been lying to me about the existence of god. I remember the day clearly. I was sitting in my room doing homework when they came in and told me what I now know to be a lie. I was furious. How could they do this to me? They had been feeding me this nonsense for my entire life and now they expect me to just accept it? Well, I didn't. I refused to believe them and spent the next several hours researching the topic on the internet. I eventually came to the conclusion that there was no evidence to support the claim that a god existed, and that all the arguments in favor of such a belief were nothing more than wishful thinking. That was the day that I became an atheist. I have never looked back since.
