I'm sick of people saying "We have a right to protect ourselves" or "I have the right to defend myself"
Those are all bs statements made up by NRA members so they can sell their products. I'm also tired of hearing "If someone doesn't want a gun, they shouldn't own one."
If you don't want a gun, then fine! Keep it to yourself. If you don't want to have a gun, then that's perfectly fine as well. There's no need for anyone to be telling others how to live.
But the problem is the people who don't want guns don't want anyone else to have them either. The solution to this is to give everyone access to the same level of protection.

You're still using BS reasoning, though. What if the government was already tyrannical? What good would a firearm do in this situation?
The NRA members don't want anyone having the right to bear arms because they want to make money off of your fear.

If you think about it, guns were created to kill animals to provide food for our ancestors. The only way to survive is to hunt, so naturally there will be some people who need them. Even without them, we could still protect ourselves in case of an attack.

I believe it'd be more practical for us to just take a look at what's happening and try to fix it instead of making drastic changes to society.

Also, I'm not even talking about taking away guns or anything like that. If the NRA members really wanted to solve this issue, they would make it easier for everyone to get a gun (without any background checks) so no one is denied the right to bear arms. I'm just sick and tired of hearing people use BS statements that don't hold up against reality.

People who live in cities probably wouldn't need guns. People who live in areas where there aren't many incidents like this probably wouldn't need guns either. People who don't mind living a life without protection probably shouldn't own one.

Alright, let me try making it simpler then. Here's what we can agree on:
We both agree that it isn't fair for someone to be denied their rights because of others' choices.
We both agree that drastic changes are unnecessary.
We both agree that some people may not need guns.
We both agree that there's more than one way to protect yourself.
We both agree that protecting ourselves is important.
We're just disagreeing about whether or not firearms should be easily accessible to everyone. I think they should be accessible to everyone so no one is left unprotected, but you're probably against this.
