It was from a basketball tournament. It says in the box "Made by Michael Jordan", but there's no signature on them, so they're fake.

you should be able to tell whether they are or not just from feeling the material and looking at the stitching
i had a pair that said adidas originals and they werent even close to being authentic

I was only in elementary school when I found out they weren't real. I'm sure it was the same with the shoes.
