i have 16gb ram, a quad core processor (3.6GHz) and windows 7.
its so much better than my old laptop that had a crappy processor and 4GB of ram.
i have a GTX 660 ti 1gb graphics card.
and i have dual monitor support.

24GB for gaming is good, and you can always add more RAM if needed. Also, it's nice to have a lot of RAM when you're doing multi-tasking or editing videos/photos, or any other kind of work that requires lots of RAM.

Well, you don't need 24GB of RAM. If you have 8GB+ it should run most things just fine. But if you are using it for editing, then maybe.
