I am in the 8th grade, and I am one of the lead singers in my school choir. I am also part of the county choir (my school is one of the many schools that participated in the county wide choir festival), and I have been singing since I was about 5 years old. It's not easy becoming good at something, especially when you are competing against other people who want to become good at it too. It takes a lot of dedication, hard work, and passion.
In my school, there are three levels of choirs: Concert Choir, Treble Choir, and Advanced Women's Ensemble. The Concert Choir and Treble Choir are both mixed choirs (meaning males and females can be in them), but they are different based on their abilities. The Concert Choir consists of beginners, but they still sing well enough to perform in concerts. The Treble Choir consists of advanced students that have had a previous experience in singing in the Concert Choir. This year, I am in the Treble Choir.
The Advanced Women's Ensemble consists of female voices only. They are the most advanced singers out of all the choirs in our school. They have won many competitions, including the state competition two years ago. In my school, the Advanced Women's Ensemble is considered the "elite" choir because they have to go through a rigorous audition process to join the choir. There are usually around 15-20 members in the Advanced Women's Ensemble each year. This year, I tried out for the Advanced Women's Ensemble, and I made it. I was so proud!
My school also has a men's choir called the "Tuxedos". The Tuxedos only have 10 members (including myself). We are very elite. I will be performing with the Tuxedos this year, which is going to be pretty awesome!
So basically, if you want to become a great singer, then tryout for your school's choir. You never know where it could lead you!

And also, if you aren't able to join your school choir, then try joining a local community choir near you.

If you want to see how good my voice is, check out this song I recorded:

I can sing more songs than just that one. My favorite songs to sing are "Time To Say Goodbye", "Bring Him Home" (from Les Miserables), "Over The Rainbow", and "The Prayer".

Anyone else have anything they like to do? Like singing, dancing, acting, playing sports, or something else?

If you don't have anything else you like to do, then what do you think about singing as a hobby? It could be very fun.
