what's the difference between a "villain" and an "enemy"

a villain is like, someone who actively works to oppose the heroes of the story and an enemy is just someone you kill like in the batman movie where he fights joker

@8s that's basically it but that still leaves the question of why do we call them villains instead of enemies isn't that kind of offensive?

i'd say villains are just another word for enemies tbh. i don't think it's very offensive unless you're talking about real life people (such as a terrorist).
