Because in the past few years, that word has become synonymous with nerdy and unattractive. The only way to use it now is to refer to yourself as a "dork".

The reason I dislike the word "geek" is because people like you use it to mean nerd. It's just as bad as calling yourself a loser.

I did not say I was a geek and I wasn't trying to make myself look like a dork either. I just said that if someone calls me a geek then I wouldn't really care. If they call me a dork, I might be slightly insulted because I thought of dorky as a negative term.

I didn't say you were a geek, I just said you used the word incorrectly.
And yes, you are technically correct about dork. That's why I said that the only time you can use the word "geek" nowadays is when you refer to yourself as a "dork".

Oh okay well yeah. The only people who called themselves geeks in my school were people who tried to act cool. But I do have friends who don't really care about what other people think of them and they like being called nerds. So yeah.
