So basically it's about a guy who has this ability to know what will happen in the future. He uses this power to make himself rich and stuff but then he learns that this is destroying the world, so he tries to stop it. The whole time though he has no clue that his actions are leading to the end of the world.
This could be awesome if done right.

No, it wouldn't.
It would just be someone who can see the future, trying not to do something wrong that causes the end of the world.

The only problem is, if the future guy stops it then his own future doesn't exist and he will die. So he has no reason to stop it.

Yes, but still. The point is that it's impossible for him to stop the future, so why should he? He will die anyway if he stops it.
