I've always been amazed at how well this technology has come along in a short amount of time, but I still cannot wrap my head around it. In my eyes, it's still just a fun toy for people who are interested in computer modeling or can think up creative designs. But I still believe that it will eventually become the future for manufacturing because it's cheaper and more efficient than other methods.
I'm not even going to bother comparing it to traditional 3D printing; the fact that you can create an entire physical copy of something using only a computer and a 3D printer (without any additional costs) is amazing enough to me. It's also great that you can easily design your own custom objects and then print them out with a single click of a mouse. And the fact that you can design and print your own models in high detail is impressive, too.
The biggest issue I have with 3D printing, though, is the lack of support for it on the internet. A lot of websites like Roblox, Steam, etc. have a hard time supporting it due to it being a relatively new technology. I know they are working on it, but until they get it working, it's kind of a pain. Not to mention that most sites don't allow user-generated content, so it makes it even harder for users to make their own items.
Overall, I think that 3D printing will be the future for manufacturing, and we will see more and more of it used in everyday life. The technology is still relatively new, but it's already growing at a rapid rate, so who knows what the future holds?
